Client: Akron Marathon

The Akron Marathon is a client that requires a broad range of materials for their various events – shirt designs, magazine ads, event signage and more. I've been on the team that created these materials for 2 years, and they're the reason I call myself a runner now. Working on a client that encourages runners of all experience levels convinced me that I could be a runner, too – and their half marathon was the first I ever completed. Taking part in their events gave me intimate understanding of who they are as an organization, which is important in representing any brand.

8k & 1 Mile Beer Fest

The above designs were created for the first race of the Akron Marathon Race Series in 2015 and 2016. These graphics were used on various components surrounding the events, such as the medals, bibs, and finish line signage. As the first race in their series, this event was designed to encourage new runners to participate in their yearly world-class marathon by starting with beginners' distances and ending with an easy-going beer festival at the finish line. The first race for the past two years has been followed by a brew festival, so for these shirts I created designs with hand lettering to give them a cool, vintage feel.
